Forecasters Warn of the Worst Storm for a Decade

As the UK battens down the hatches to face what is being dubbed one the worst storms to hit the British Isles in a decade, motoring organisations are reiterating the importance of road safety and utmost vigilance.

Motorists are advised to plan their journey in advance with particular attention to exposed routes and wooded areas, which may prove troublesome.

Drivers are also reminded that extra care should be taken when overtaking high-sided vehicles. Motorists need to be extra vigilant of those vehicles prone to wind-related difficulties.

Lastly, it’s important that motorists remain alert and in full control of the vehicle, looking ahead for possible dangers and at an adequate speed so as to react efficiently when necessary.

Police forces around the country remind motorists to only use the 999 number in an emergency and that the 101 non-emergency number should be used where the situation permits.
